Dayton Daily Lies

It is with some degree of disappointment that I realized in my youth how one of our local papers was intentionally misleading it's readers. A dangerous statement to make, you might think. Dangerous only if it wasn't true!

After writing numerous letters to the editor (only getting perhaps one of ten published) I decided to vote with both my money and my own pen, so to speak. I cancled my subscription, though it was the only paper in town (I now get the Cincinnati and Columbus papers) and started this web page to document the deceit.

Listed below are a sample of the editorials you get from the paper, and my exposing their lies. I hope this convinces at least a few writers to go back to the concept of the newspaper as a forum for truth, and not one for propaganda.

  • With every revolution comes a counter-revolution, designed to overthrow the movement. The writers of the local paper obviously hope to convince readers that the original revolution has been abandoned by it's proponents. The truth, as always, does not support their "opinion".

  • You've seen ads screaming "50% off!", and you know they mean 50% off the doubled retail price. Well the local paper tries to tell you certain politicians are doing this when the reality is it's 50% off the usual price. But that's because the local paper supports higher taxes for everyone.

  • Cents and sensibility. The local newspaper substitute rails against free markets, so I shine the light of truth on them.

  • Lying about guns. Who's to blame: guns or people who make amoral decisions legitimate?

  • Once again the paper tries to rewrite history. This time they are lying about Reagan's tax cuts.
