Why is HateWired (HotWired for those with a liberal outlook) so bent out of shape? You would think that they would at least
try to hide their leftist bias...but apparently striking out at those who tell the truth is too enticing. I speak, of
course, of their hate-speech concerning Republican and conservative web sites.
Just as the Nazis in Germany and the Communists in the XSSR used doublespeak to convince the majority that a minority was evil,
and needed to be attacked, the "writers" at HateWired try their best to convince their readers that Republicans
are evil hatemongers. Do they do this with examples of behavior? Nope. The usual lies and distortions about Republican policies
and positions? Not really. Then what do they use? Well, just simple, plain...hate speech.
It's not very surprising to see unabashed liberals show their true colors. After all, the people at HateWired think they've
got a captive audience! How ironic that a media outlet that trumpets the Internet and World Wide Web would make such an
assumption. After all, we all have printing presses now! I can, and am, countering their lies with the truth.
No doubt they will respond with ever-increasing levels of hate speech aimed in my direction. I view that as a bonus, however.
Just like the Democratic whining about Dole's tax proposals and Veep choice shows how worried they are about those programs, HateWired's
vitriol means that the truth is getting under their skin.
For example, the "writers" of HateWired feature a link to Dixie Net
(self-proclaimed site of "Southern Sovereignty") and blithely proclaim "Lolly lolly lolly get your hate speech here".
The casual web surfer might take their word for it, and assume that Dixie Net is indeed a white-supremist site, as
HateWired would have you believe. However, upon visiting Dixie Net, you discover that it is a group trying
to keep alive the flat-Earthish notion of a separate Confederate States of America. It is also a group that denounces
hate sites and goes to great lengths to explain that they can't force hate sites to "unlink" the Dixie Net site.
Apparently that holds for HateWired!
Let's examine some of the hypocrisy that HateWired doesn't even bother to hide, placing two conflicting
points of evidence adjacent to each other! First they list the Log Cabin Republicans
site but shy away from admitting that gays (gasp!) belong to the Republican Party and instead toss in a jab at Pat Buchanan.
(Gee, that makes so much sense!) Then HateWired talks about a link to a "friends of Newt Gingrich"
site and states "Think of all the fun you'll have together bashing gays and welfare mothers over a few beers!". Note: the web domain has
since been obtained by Newt Gingrich for his official site.
Sorry, HateWired, although liberals waffle from position to position with a periodicity measured in nanoseconds,
only your "mind-numbed robot" followers would miss the contradiction that Republicans have a gay organization within
their party, yet supposedly engage in gay bashing as a leisure activity.
Then there is their comment about the Right Side of the Web
site: "Walk softly and carry a big killfile." But not only is Right Side of the Web not a newsgroup (where killfiles are relevant)
but they have numerous forms of feedback and a "Graffiti Wall" where anyone (yes, anyone!) can post a message.
HateWired doesn't let the facts get in the way of their rant, though!
I suppose we shouldn't expect any better from the current crop of leftists than we saw from their Nazi and Communist
forebearers. Luckily for us, they don't have a monopoly on the media like Goebbels did, or we'd all have been marched off
to their Goals 2000 re-education camps by now.
We must remember the words of that great leader of the United States and proponent of freedom, Ronald Reagan:
"trust, but verify". Free speech means that we will have to be vigilant and counter sites like HateWired and
trust that a majority of the people will see through their lies. Those with intelligence (and integrity!) will
verify, and find out the truth.
Update: Wired magazine subsequently got rid of their "urban commando" crew running "HateWired" and turned it into
what it should have been from the start: an online version of their magazine; a source for digital news, programming
information and all-around geek-central. The hate speech stopped and the geek talk commenced! We commend them on
their actions in reducing hate speech on the net and instead promoting a non-ideological technical web resource.

Note: at the time this article was written "Netizens.com" was a subgroup of HotWired, and operated as a site where people could host
their own web pages (like GeoCities). It has since become yet another dead site taken over by mass-marketing web squatters.
